The video installation “Pairing/Division” brings the "universal family tree" to life. Two projections positioned opposite each other both show the reproduction process. The one side focuses on pairing, where two growths unite and form a new node. With every new coupling the previous node moves deeper into the network of ancestors. The other side shows the reproduction process in which a growth repeatedly divides into two.
The topic of both video animations is the permanent chain reaction of life; the animations enable us to appreciate the evolutionary mechanism beyond our everyday perception of time and space.
